Apps

App for Android

In the app for Android the SMS traffic is completely integrated in the background. Up to 20 different Ontech GSM units can be controlled from the same app.

When the app is given a command through the app a SMS will be generated in the background and sent to the unit to execute these orders.

If you ask for an UPDATE the unit will send a Status SMS back to the app and the information will be displayed graphically.

Programming of functions and alarm lists is easily made with the app. A code will be generated and sent to the unit which will save this code in its memory and restart the unit to start up with the new settings. Even if the power should disappear and the back- up battery should run out of power, the settings will still be remembered.

A manual for the app is found here.

App for iPhone

In the app for iPhone a code is created through a SMS. These are not sent in the background of the app but manually by the user. The app can not read a SMS that has been received. Instead you have use the SMS translator located within the app.

Programming alarms and functions is made by the app opens a safari page where a code is created, which you will copy and send to the unit in a SMS.

The reason for the big difference between the app for Android and Iphone is that Apples legal frameworks prevents third- party developers to write and read SMS automatically.

Other Smartphones

Programming with other smartphones is made through the phones web browser and the page www.ontechgsm.com/set.html.

There you can fill in under every tab the settings you wish and a code will be generated to copy and send to the unit through a SMS.

After every sent SMS the unit will respond with a confirmation that the programming has been successful.
